NFA billing overview
For NFA partners only:
If you haven’t already, we highly recommend reviewing the current migration documentation. Please submit any questions to nmm.support@getnerdio.com.
Microsoft has sunset Azure Classic (this does not affect Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)). For details, see Migrate your IaaS resources to Azure Resource Manager by September 6, 2023.
New NFA account creation has been unavailable since November 30, 2021.
NFA remains fully supported until its official sunset. For more information, contact Nerdio Support at nfa.support@getnerdio.com.
Nerdio bills your NFA account for usage, which ensures that you pay only for what you use. To help you manage your NFA account, Nerdio provides features that let you monitor your costs and pay your bill.
Consider the following points:
NFA billing is calculated monthly. You can provision an NFA account at any point of the month, and you will be charged on a pro-rated basis, not for the entire month.
Nerdio generates an invoice at the end of every month and automatically charges the credit card you provided when you first signed up for NFA.
To update your credit card information, see View and update your credit card information.
To enable billing notifications on your NFA profile, see Enable billing notifications.
Note: If you no longer need your NFA account, you can destroy it as described in Destroy an NFA account.
View your NFA billing information
You can view your NFA invoices directly in the NFA portal.
To view NFA invoices:
-
Navigate to $ Billing > NFA invoices.
-
Next to the invoice you wish to view, select View details.
Invoicing workflow
The Nerdio invoicing workflow includes the following steps:
Step 1: Calculate the number of users per month
At the end of each month, Nerdio retroactively reviews usage data to calculate the number of active desktop users for each customer under your partner account. The system then averages that number across the total days in the month (30 or 31).
In the example below, 7.17 active NFA user licenses were consumed in September 2018. The number is fractional because not all users began using NFA on September 1. Here's how the number of active users is calculated:
If you are eligible for any discounts, such as internal use licenses, they will be applied at this stage. Discounts are applied to Professional accounts first, followed by Enterprise accounts.
Step 3: Apply taxes and calculate total
Nerdio does not collect any taxes (see example above). The invoice total is calculated by summing up the cost of licenses, applying any discounts, and adding applicable taxes for your partner account for the month.
Step 4: Generate invoices and charge partners
If you're a Nerdio partner, you’ll receive your NFA invoice at the beginning of each month via your registered email address. Your credit card will be charged automatically based on your monthly usage.
NFA follows these steps to process partner billing:
1st of the month: Nerdio generates invoices, with payment due by the 7th.
8th of the month: NFA attempts to charge the partner’s credit card automatically. If the attempt fails, an email notification is sent.
15th of the month: NFA tries again to charge the card. If it fails, another email is sent.
28th of the month: The final automatic charge attempt is made.
Note: If all attempts fail, Nerdio’s Accounting team follows up directly with the partner.
View and update your credit card information
You can view or update your credit card information in the Billing section of your account.
Navigate to $ Billing > NFA invoices.
-
Select Payment details.
-
In the Payment details dialog box, select Change.
-
Enter your new billing address and credit card details, and then select Submit.
Nerdio starts charging your new credit card for your future invoices.
Enable billing notifications
You can enable billing notifications for your NFA account.
To enable billing notifications:
-
Navigate to Settings > Notifications.
-
In the Billing notifications section, select one of the following options:
Send billing notifications to Distributor/Partner admins: When this option is On, an email notification is sent to the NFA user that first signed up for Nerdio, and NFA users that have the Distributor Admin or Partner Admin role.
Send notifications to Distributor/Partner Billing admins: When this option is On, an email notification is sent to NFA users that have the Distributor Billing Admin or Partner Billing Admin role.
-
Additionally send to these email addresses: When this option is On, you can send an email to a mailing list. For example, if you belong to the Accounting department, and are a part of an email alias accounts_payable@mycompany.com, you can enable NFA billing notifications for your entire Accounting team. This ensures someone from your team gets the notification in your absence and takes the necessary action.
Tip: Leave these options Off If you don't want to receive any notifications for NFA billing.
