Destroy an NFA account
If you no longer need your NFA account, you can destroy it.
Warning: Billing continues until the account is removed from the NFA portal, and it does not stop after running the destroy task. To fully stop future invoices, follow up with Nerdio Support at nfa.support@getnerdio.com, or your Nerdio account representative, to request complete removal from the portal.
To destroy an account:
Sign in to the NFA portal (NAP) as an IT Administrator.
On the Accounts home page, locate the account you wish to destroy.
-
From the action menu next to the account, select Destroy.
-
In the Destroy account dialog box, explore all options to understand their implications (see the table below), and then select the most appropriate option to destroy your account.
Warning: It is strongly recommended not to empty the Azure subscription or delete all Microsoft 365 resources. These options are intended only for sandbox environments and should be used only if the tenant is no longer active, as they will permanently delete all resources.
Options
Implications
Additionally, empty out Azure subscription <subscription name> in tenant <tenant name>.
When you select this option, Nerdio deletes all Azure resources, including servers, desktops, backups and data in the resource group.
The resource group itself is deleted too.
Azure resources in other resource groups within that subscription are not removed.
Note: This is a permanent delete. Deleted resources cannot be recovered.
Keep, but rename, all Microsoft 365 resources in tenant <tenant name> that are using the domain <AccountID>.nerdio.net, including users, groups and shared mailboxes.
When you select this option, Nerdio does the following:
Renames all users, groups, and mailboxes that are using the <AccountID>.nerdio.net Nerdio domain.
Moves trial and predefined users to recycle bin, leaving all other users alone (including the renamed ones).
Removes groups that are created during provisioning. Nerdio can't move groups to the recycle bin, and permanently deletes them).
Remove the Nerdio <AccountID>.nerdio.net domain.
Delete all Microsoft 365 resources in tenant <tenant name> that are using the domain <AccountID>.nerdio.net, including users, groups and shared mailboxes.
When you select this option, Nerdio does the following:
Deletes all users, groups, mailboxes that are using the <AccountID>.nerdio.net Nerdio domain.
Empties the recycle bin. All objects that are using the Nerdio domain (including trial users) are permanently deleted.
Note: Nerdio empties the recycle bin. This is an irreversible process that can result in significant data loss.
-
Select Confirm.
Nerdio starts the destroy job. It can take up to an hour to complete the destroy process.
Important!
Before or during the automated account destroy procedure, do not attempt to make changes or deletions directly in the Azure or Microsoft 365 portal. Doing so may break Nerdio's automation and result in the task failure.
Follow up with Nerdio Support at nfa.support@getnerdio.com, or your Nerdio account representative, to request complete removal from the NFA portal and fully stop billing to avoid future invoices.
