Is anyone using RDP Shortpath?

Looking to setup and test RDP Shortpath and I'm hoping it will help with our clients that frequently have AVD connection issues.  We already have a S2S VPN setup (currently used for network printing and scanning).  Will the basic SKU provide enough bandwidth?  The client I have in mind to push this out to first has 8 users and 1 session host.

Thanks,
Steve

Yes works amazing, cuts latency by about 30%. However ...solving your dropping issues, depends on why its dropping, UDP has better packet loss handling, you can see 10% packet loss and still not drop from the connection. But if you are dropping because of Azure GW issues or SSL issues, then you would have to contact Azure support. Take a look at AVD Insights under Nerdio > Monitoring. It shows you all connection errors and reasons for drops.

Thanks.

I've had a ticket open with our CSP and Microsoft regarding drops and they're blaming the local network(s).  The 2 most common errors are ConnectionBrokenMissedHeartbeatThresholdExceeded and ConnectionFailedClientDisconnect.  I only recently found a possible workaround to the first one.

Just an update, I did setup RDP Shortpath for this client and another one since and it works great.  These clients were complaining daily of connection issues and that pretty much stopped when RDP Shortpath was setup.  We still get some connection errors that I can't solve yet, but it only happens once or twice a week on average.

Steve if thats the case, then there is still some networking issue that you might want to resolve there. Shortpath has up to a 10% packet loss tolerance before disconnecting you. So if by enabling Shortpath and your disconnect issues stopped, it doesnt mean your underlying issue is gone, it just isnt manifesting in a disconnect.

At this point I can't find it, nor do I have time to keep going in circles.  I'll take 1 or 2 random disconnections a week vs multiple times a day. Our CSP and Microsoft were no help either.

Tony, I could swear there is a checkbo for "Use RDP Shortpath" in NMM.

What other tools do you suggest using to diagnose the LAN connectivity issues, we have used PINPLOTTER, but that is only for PING, not the other ports that AVD is using.

Ping Plotter, Wireshark. RDP Short Path is a Scripted Actions item you can use to activate on your image. AVD Insights from Microsoft just became a lot more useful. Check that out as well.
