Ability to globally view all account level variable overrides (Answered)

It would be useful to have either a “global view” or a new option under integrations > variables section in the global MSP view to see variables that have been overridden.

For example you have conditional access policies with location variables in use. You must update add a new blocked country. The accounts with NO override in place will honor this new setting. Accounts with override in place would not honor this new blocked country.

This view would allow the MSP to quickly understand the impact of this change.

Similar to accepted drifts. Over time, it will be hard to keep track of customer level overrides

Great idea, Ryan!

I know we have another similar request (Add ability to change inherited variable for tenants from main integrations page – Nerdio Help Center), coincidently from a different Ryan 🙂.

Do you know if the potential solution that's discussed on the other idea would work for your use-case as well?

Hey Dave,
The other solution could address my use case as well, as long as you could bring up a view to see what the current variable override state is set to. But yes changing the variable as well as viewing the variable globally would be a huge time saver.

Excellent!

I'm thinking that if we did the inherited variables like this rough mock-up I made, you could quickly see the value for all of your customers and override/reset it, if necessary.
The only missing thing would be the reporting/drift piece. It'd be hard to define drift because some values would be changed for a specific reason.
Hmm… We'll have to think on that a bit to see if there's a great way to accomplish what you're wanting, but not just make it “noise”.
