Update VM size as part of Auto-scale reimaging

Hello!

We use Auto-scale's checkbox for re-imaging VM to keep session hosts young, and up to date with any golden image updates.

I noticed that changing the VM SIZE from the auto-scale blade will not change the size of any re-imaged hosts. Would it be possible to allow re-imaging to ALSO update VM size to match the auto-scale VM size Template

I can see how this would be beneficial, but I can also see how this is kind of a niche thing.
Out of curiosity, how often are you changing the VM size?

Because everyone likely won't need this, would adding an extra checkbox for this work for your use case?
Or, did you have something else in mind?

Erik, looking back on this, it seems like the root ask for this might be to get your hosts back on the correct size after using Azure Capacity Extender.
Does this idea (Alert for azure capacity extender – Nerdio Help Center) kind of work together with yours?

Not quite sure if it's exactly the same issue, I think of capacity extender as "oh no! Azure can't give me my preferred compute, this is my second choice". I think that Chris' ask is "hey how often do we need to use this compute failover, can I get alerts" and my ask is "if I want to update a host pool to a new compute, there is no way to make it happen automatically. I will always need to manually tend to the hosts with a resize/reimage task or delete task and let auto-scale fill the pool with hosts using new compute"

Ahh. Thanks for clarifying.
They could probably work well together if they were both implemented, but yours is/can be a stand-alone use case.
Thanks for responding back to my crazy idea to get all of the round pegs to fit in my square-headed holes 😂
