When assigning policy and solution baselines to accounts, the modal does not identify the clients already included. This makes it challenging to identify which clients are missing from the baseline. Opening NMM in a different window to cross-reference is a bad user experience and leaves too much room for error. A way to filter out clients already included or some sort of flag next to the client's name within the account list would be extremely helpful.
Baseline Assignment Filters
Hey, Chris, I'm struggling to understand what you're wanting with this one (it could just be a me thing though 😄).
Can you elaborate a bit more on the issue you're having?
It might be easier to reproduce what I am talking about to understand the FR better.
- In NMM, go to a Policy or Solution Baseline with an assigned customer account.
- Click on the "Assign" button and then "Add Assignments."
- In the popup, expand the dropdown for "Select assignments."
Nothing flags or denotes accounts already included in the assignments within the dropdown. It would be super helpful to identify accounts that are already assigned within that dropdown. I understand why they are listed for the overwrite option, but it becomes challenging to assign just the missing accounts or identify which ones are missing.
Hope that makes more sense, sorry :)
Thanks for clarifying, Chris. 🙂
I see what you're saying.
When you go to assign a Baseline or UAM assignment, you have the currently selected items in the unfocused background (where depending on the number of accounts you have, you won't be able to see them).
However, with scripted actions, you're already able to see who is currently assigned. (See screenshots below)
It sounds like we need to true-up our wizards to match.
Getting UAM to match "shouldn't" be a huge deal (I say that as someone with 0 programming experience 🫤) because it's similar to Scripted Actions where it's assigned or it's not.
Baselines seem a bit more complicated (again, speaking as a non-developer).
For Baselines, maybe if we adopt the same style as scripted actions where it can show what is currently assigned, with the option to remove them and then use another box/section to add new assignments?
In the rough screenshot below, I outlined a possible design where if something is Enforced, a -E is automatically added to the assignment and a -RO if it's read only so it's easy to see what you've assigned to which account and the way it is assigned.
Thoughts?

Possible Change?
We are definitely on the same page now :)
I like the overwrite option because you can essentially reset the assignments; that's why I was saying they should be noted in some way and not just excluded from the list. I was initially thinking something like (already assigned), but with long client names, I could see that being an issue. I like your -E / -RO idea, too. Maybe a filter at the top by the select assignments all / unassigned to filter the dropdown.
