Deployment Policies on Desktop Images

Would like to see the option to add Deployment Policies on Desktop Images. In that way you can keep your Desktop Images up to date with the latest versions of applications. Up-to-date DI ready to be deployed to new Host pool machines when needed.

Maybe on Global Images as well...(?)

I think we may already have this feature in NMM, but wanted to see if you can clarify what you mean, Daniel Lundqvist.
Does what I described below help you out or is what you're asking for different?

When you schedule (or manually run) the Set as Image task, you have the ability to run Scripted Actions (1) or Unified Applications (2) before you capture the image. (see the screenshot below)
And then, in v5.3 we're getting Shell Apps which will make it even easier to update applications that aren't in an existing WinGet repository.
Between the two, you should be able to automatically keep your desktop image up to date. 🙂

Thanks Dave Stephenson. You are correct, that is a way to setup up-to-date Desktop Images. Though, I would still like to see that they add the Desktop Images in Deployment Policies. That way you, gather all deployments "under the same roof". Easier to get an overview.

Ahh, thanks for clarifying.

I think I understand now.
You're wanting to have an option to choose Desktop Images as part of the deployment policies. (see my rough screenshot below)
Like you said, that makes a lot of sense to have all of your deployments under a single pane of glass.
The only problem I could see (that may not be a problem) is if you're trying to deploy a UAM with the set as image task and with a deployment policy and there is a conflict, which one wins? 🤔

Maybe if we put a little prompt on the set as image if there are policies applied, that will be sufficient?
