UAM Option to not create Desktop Icons

Hello!

We are slowly testing UAM and using it in production enviroments.
As we are slowly moving app-install script to UAM, we noticed that for some apps the desktop icon is automattically created in the public desktop folder. For example PDF24 and PowerBI Desktop.

We would like the option to not automatically create (public) desktop icons if that is possible.
Now we delete the public desktop folder on VM startup to keep the desktops clean. The icons are being managed by GPO, and would like to keep it that way.

Kind regards,

Alwin

I think it all depends on the installer.
I had another installer (I think it was Greenshot?) where I wanted it to add shortcuts to the start menu/desktop, but it didn't.
When I asked support about it, they said just that "it all depends on the installer" and I confirmed it by trying it with another software (I want to say it was VLC Media Player?) and it created the shortcuts.

I found this blog post that talks about the same problem with winget where they say that it all depends on the software and having the required switches to support it.

Maybe if Nerdio allowed us to put specific arguments when we schedule UAM maintenance it will allow us to have that functionality for the apps that support it?

DStephenson Great feature suggestion and I'm tagging Andy Weidner as well so he sees it.  Alwin Dijkstra, thank you for getting the conversation started.  Please keep us all updated as you experiment!

It looks like there's a similar request to this one that could likely be implemented at the same time.

Dave Stephenson Correct. I think this feature can be tackled when implementing argument support for winget applications for UAM.

Similar idea that could be implemented at the same time as this idea.
