Troubleshoot ARM Registration Token Issue
Problem Statement
What Happened:
The Microsoft APIs that Nerdio Manager for MSP utilized for fetching and creating Host Pools and Host Pool information stopped returning the Host Pool Registration Key. This prevented new Virtual Machines from registering to Host Pools and caused failures in the Join to ARM AVD step while creating or re-imaging Hosts. This issue affects Nerdio Manager for MSP versions earlier than 5.1.5.
Causes
Why Did It Happen:
Microsoft unexpectedly removed the registrationinfo response from the Azure Desktop Virtualization API and created new API endpoints to retrieve the registration token.
Remedy
How Was It Fixed:
We integrated with new Azure ARM API endpoints to fetch and utilize the registration token.
Steps for Monitoring and Recovery
Monitoring:
The issue can be identified by Virtual Machines / Hosts failing to be created or re-imaged during the Join to ARM AVD step in Nerdio Manager for MSP.
Recovery:
To resolve the issue, update to one of the following versions of Nerdio Manager for MSP:
v5.1.5 - version 5.1.5: This updates the APIs utilized for retrieving the Host Pool Registration Key to the new API endpoints. The update includes the fixes in all versions 5.1.X hotfixes, and offers no other major functionality changes to Nerdio Manager for MSP. Release notes for these changes can be found on the Release Notes page.
v5.2.0 - Public Preview version 5.2.0: This provides the updated API endpoints included in version 5.1.5.
Note: This is a preview release that includes new features for Nerdio Manager for MSP. Release notes for these changes can be found on the Release Notes page.
By updating Nerdio Manager for MSP to the latest hotfix or preview release, you can ensure that Nerdio Manager for MSP can properly create Session Hosts and add them to Host Pools.
