Overview of Groups

Nerdio Manager allows you to manage Groups. This includes creating groups and assigning groups to resources.

Groups can be used for email and user collaboration. In addition, they can be used for granting access to resources, such as AVD desktops, RemoteApps desktops, Apps via Intune, and enforce policies and profiles via Intune, etc.

The Groups module allows you to manage your groups. This includes adding, editing, and assigning groups to resources.

  • To view the groups, at the Account level, navigate to Groups.

  • The action menu allows you to perform a number of tasks.

  • You can search the groups based on name or email.

  • You can filter the groups based on types and assignments.

  • Select the refresh icon to refresh the list.

Add a Group

Nerdio Manager allows you to add a new group.

To add a group:

  1. At the Account level, navigate to Groups.

  2. Select Add group.

  3. Enter the following information:

    • Directory Source: From the drop-down list, select the directory source.

    • Group Type: Select the group type.

      Note:

      • Microsoft 365: These groups are used for email and collaboration between users, both inside and outside your company.
      • Security: These groups are used for granting access to resources, such as AVD desktops or RemoteApps desktops.
    • Name: Type the group's name.
    • Description: Type the group's description.
    • For Microsoft 365 groups:
      • Privacy: Select the privacy type.

        Note: Select Public to create a Microsoft 365 group where the group content is publicly visible. Select Private to ensure that only group members can view the group's content.

      • Teams: Select Yes to create a team for your Microsoft 365 group.

        Note: To create a team, this group needs to have at least one owner, and all the owners must have a license that includes ‎Teams.

      • Email Address: Type the email address for the Microsoft 365 group.

    • Members: From the drop-down list, select the group member(s).

      Note: Members can be either users or devices.

    • Owners: From the drop-down list, select the group owner(s).

  4. Once you have entered all the desired information, select OK.

Notes: Once you have created groups, you can manage them from the Groups page.

  • Select the group's name to edit the group.

  • From the action menu, select Delete to delete a group.

Assign a Group to Resources

Nerdio Manager allows you to assign groups to resources.

To assign a group to resources:

  1. At the Account level, navigate to Groups.

  2. Locate the group you wish to work with.

  3. From the action menu, select the resource type you wish to manage.

    • For AVD Desktops, select the desktop host pool(s).

    • For AVD RemoteApps, select the RemoteApps host pool(s).

    • For Cloud PC, from the drop-down lists, select the Image and Network Connection (VNet/Subnet).

      Notes:

      Select a Cloud PC-enabled desktop image. This image is used to create Cloud PCs for users in this group that have been assigned a Microsoft 365 Cloud PC license.

    • For Intune Devices, select the device(s).

  4. Once you have made your selections, select Confirm.
