Overview of account management

Nerdio Manager allows you to manage customer accounts. This includes importing customer accounts from Partner Center, linking an existing Nerdio Manager for Enterprise installation, changing the account name or logo, viewing the account logs, or adding notes. To back up the configuration of an account and import it into another installation, see Back up, export, and import a customer account configuration. To organize customer accounts into named groups and scope RBAC roles to them, see Create and use account groups.

Import customer accounts from Partner Center

Nerdio Manager allows you to import one or more customers linked to a Partner Center account.

Note

For details about connecting a Partner Center account, see Link a Partner Center account.

To import customer accounts from Partner Center:
  1. At the MSP level, navigate to Accounts.

  2. From the Accounts section, select Import from Partner Center.

  3. In the Select customers area, select the customer(s) you want to import.

    Note

You can also use the filters for Search for customers, Select GDAP State, or select the box for Include Already Imported Customers.

  4. Select Next.

  5. In the Permissions area, enter the details for the GDAP request:

    • Name: Enter a name for the GDAP request.

    • Auto-Extend: Select the toggle to enable or disable auto-extend.

      Note

Auto-Extend is optional and does not need semi-permanent permissions to function.

    • Duration (days): Enter the number of days that this GDAP request is valid for.

      Note

See Customer approval of partner GDAP request for more information on GDAP approval requests.

  6. Select Next.

  7. In the Finalize area, review the details you have entered.

  8. Select Save & close.

    Note

Until the customer's global admin approves the request, the customer is listed in the Accounts table as pending, and no account exists yet. To see or hide pending customers, use the Include Pending GDAPs filter. In a pending row, copy the invitation URL to send it to the customer, or delete the request to cancel the invitation. Once the invitation is accepted, the customer account is added.

Link a Nerdio Manager for Enterprise account

If a customer runs a stand-alone Nerdio Manager for Enterprise installation, you can add a shortcut to it in the Accounts table, so that you can open it from Nerdio Manager.

Important

Linking an account only adds a shortcut to the Nerdio Manager for Enterprise installation. It does not give you any Nerdio Manager functionality for that account.

Linked accounts are excluded from global Nerdio Manager functionality, such as scripted action and policy assignment, Insights and dashboards, the Reporting Engine, and global images. They are also excluded from Nerdio Manager billing. Because Nerdio Manager cannot read the linked installation, the Additional info, Usage, and Status columns are empty for a linked account.

To link a Nerdio Manager for Enterprise account:
  1. At the MSP level, navigate to Accounts.

  2. Select the drop-down beside the Add Account button, and then select Link Enterprise account.

  3. Enter the following information:

    • Customer Name: The name to show in the Accounts table.

    • Nerdio Manager for Enterprise URL: The URL of the customer's installation.

    • Azure Tenant Name: The customer's Azure tenant name.

  4. Confirm the dialog.

The linked account appears in the Accounts table.

In the row of a linked account, the actions are:

  • Manage: Opens the Nerdio Manager for Enterprise URL for the account.

  • Unlink: Removes the linked account from the Accounts table.

Manage an account

Once an account has been created, you have the options to manage it.

To manage an account:
  1. At the MSP level, select Accounts.

  2. Locate the customer account you want to manage.

  3. To enter Account level configuration mode for your chosen account, select the Manage button (Classic UI) or Managenmm-manage-icon.png icon (New UI) in the corresponding row.

  4. To perform a specific action on the account, access the action menu by selecting the down arrow (Classic UI) or three vertical dots (New UI), then select the desired action.

Logs

Logs allows you to view the account's logs.

Notes

Notes allow you to add notes as needed.

Note

You can have a maximum of 4000 characters in the notes. The text format can be alphanumeric (lower /upper case alphabets, numbers) or special characters.

Change name

Change name allows you to change the account name as needed.

Set IUL

Set IUL allows you to set the account as an Internal Use License (IUL). See What is an Internal Use License (IUL)? for details.

Reapply permissions

Reapply permissions restores the required Microsoft Entra ID permissions that are currently missing for an account that uses the Classic access model. Permissions that you added manually are kept. To move an account to the granular permission model instead, see Migrate accounts to the granular permission model and least-privilege roles.

Note

Accounts that use the granular permission model manage permissions through permission sets. See Manage customer account-level features and permissions.

To reapply permissions:
  1. At the MSP level, select Accounts, and locate the account.

  2. Open the action menu for the account and select Reapply Permissions.

  3. In the Reapply Permissions dialog, review the list of Missing permissions. If no permissions are missing, the list reads No missing permissions found and OK is unavailable.

  4. Select OK. The process can take a few minutes to complete.

Enable limited access

Enable limited access allows you to switch the account to what's called a Limited Access mode to restrict permissions granted to the Nerdio Manager enterprise app in the customer's Azure tenant.

Note

Accounts in limited access mode have reduced functionality. For example, Users & Group management is not available. In addition, accounts in limited access mode do not have access to all the Intune Device Management features. See Overview of Intune Device Management for details.

Warning

This is an irreversible operation.

Destroy

Destroy allows you to destroy an account. This action only removes the account record from the Nerdio Manager database. It does not make any changes to the customer's Azure environment. You need to manually remove any resources that are left behind.

Upload logo

Upload Logo allows you to upload the account's logo.

Reset logo

Reset Logo allows you to reset the account's logo to this:
