Overview of AI-Powered Description Generation
AI-Powered Description Generation allows you to utilize Azure Generative AI to automatically generate descriptions for you.
Prerequisites
AI-Powered Description Generation leverages Azure OpenAI. As of the release of this feature, Azure customers are required to request access to Azure OpenAI via this form. Further, Azure OpenAI has per region and per subscription quotas.
Once access to OpenAI has been granted proceed with the rest of the document.
Costs of AI-Powered Description Generation
AI-Powered Description Generation creates an Azure OpenAI resource. Azure OpenAI services are billed per tokens. Factors like region and language model contribute to Azure OpenAI costs. For further details on pricing please see this Microsoft article.
Feature Limitations
Once enabled, Description Generation is available for all user roles on the account.
Disabling the feature doesn’t delete Azure resources deployed when the feature was enabled.
Users cannot control the throttling limit per day and/or per month.
This feature is deployed at the Account level.
There is no mechanism for identifying and filtering out false information.
Azure AI generates a description for your resources based on the details you provide. So, the more details you provide, the more accurate your description. Every time you select auto generate, as described below, you see a different description based on the details you provided.
Enable Description Generator at the Account Level
In order to be able to generate a description for your resources, you need to first enable the Azure powered Description Generator settings for your customer account. The Description Generator utilizes Azure Generative AI to automatically generate descriptions based on resource settings.
To enable description generator for your account:
At the Account level, navigate to Settings > Integrations.
In the Azure AI tile, next to Description Generation, select Disabled.
Enter the following information:
Use description generation: Toggle this option On.
Note: Azure AI services require each tenant to have accepted the Azure Responsible AI Notice. For more information on Responsible use of AI with Azure AI Services click here. In addition, see Azure Responsible AI Notice for more information about how to accept the Azure Responsible AI Notice.
Name:Select an existing Description Generation Cognitive Service or create a new one.
For an existing service:
Deployment: From the drop-down list, select the deployment.
For a new service:
Resource Group:From the drop-down list, select the Resource Group to the Description Generation Cognitive Service.
Region:From the drop-down list, select the Region to contain the Description Generation Cognitive Service. For Region availability refer here.
Once you have entered all the desired information, select OK.
This task takes some time depending on the Azure region and other conditions. You can follow the task's progress in the Integrations Tasks section.
Generate Description for Host Pools
Nerdio Manager allows you to generate a description for your host pools.
To generate a description for host pools:
At the Account level, navigate to AVD > Host Pools.
Select Add host pool.
Enter the following information:
Name: Type the name of host pool.
Description:Select Generate with AI to automatically generate the description for the host pool.
Note: Azure AI generates a description for your host pool based on the details you provide. So, the more details you provide, the more accurate your description. Every time you select auto generate, you see a different description, based on the details you provide.
Refer to Overview of Host Pools AVD Settings for details about the other parameters.
Once you have entered all the desired information, select Save or Save & close.
Generate Description for User Groups
Nerdio Manager allows you to generate a description for user groups.
To generate a description for user groups:
At the Account level, navigate to Groups.
Select Add group.
Enter the following information:
Group Type: Select group type.
Name: Type the name of the group.
Description:Select Generate with AI to automatically generate the description for the group.
Refer to Overview of Groups for details about the other parameters.
Once you have entered all the desired information, select Save.
Generate Description for Deployment Policies
Nerdio Manager allows you to generate a description for deployment policies.
At the Account level, navigate to Applications > Deployment Policies.
Select Add.
Enter the following information:
Name: Type the name of the deployment policy.
Description:Select Generate with AI to automatically generate the description for the deployment policy.

Once you have entered all the desired information, select Save.
