Lacerte Unable to check encryption mode of database

I'm getting this error "DoBeforeInitialize: Exception = Error initializing config. Unable to check encryption mode of database....Error code: -64" when a user signs in to the host pool and attempts to run Lacerte.

Here's how Lacerte was installed:

Start golden image. Map F: to the apps share on the server (logged in as domain admin).
Run the server install, changing the server from UNC path to F:\Lacerte\...
Run the workstation install.

I tried logging in to the host pool as the domain admin and Lacerte loads. It makes me think that there's a permissions issue. Does the user need write access to some of the folders in the program files directory? Or something else?

Users will need read/write/modify permissions on C:\Lacerte and the shared file path (F:\Lacerte)

If you run a web search for Lacerte on a Terminal Server, you'll find some recommended settings published by Intuit

Steve Hopler Thanks. I've looked at the docs and have a question. For the C:\Lacerte on the golden image, how are you identifying the users/groups that should have write access if the image isn't joined to the domain yet?

Lacerte_on_Citrix_White_Paper.pdf (intuit.com) this document refers to some folders in the Common Files that don't exist e.g. Intuit Shared and Lacerte Shared. Is that ok or is something missing from my install?

I join our golden images to the domain, but I keep golden images for each client and do not use global golden images.

I just checked one of our Lacerte installs and we are using the standard share permissions inherited from C:\ on C:\Lacerte (Users group has read/execute, list folder contents, read).  Our users have full control of F:\Lacerte.

Look into Program Files (x86) for those missing folders.  That's where I found them.
