Will from Nerdio here and I have a question for the community regarding user density on multi-session hosts... What is the average you are seeing? From working with many partners I typically see somewhere in the 1.5 to 2 users per CPU core range for a normal office worker on a E series host since they tend to use more RAM than CPU. Is this accurate with your experience?
Average User Per CPU Ratios??
Andy Nolan - Thank you for joining the conversation! Does Impact tend to use D or E series VM's and do you also tend to migrate up as new Version SKUs arrive, like the recent v5's?
Across our entire set of customer multi-session hosts our ratio is 1.07 users per core.
We typically are using E series VMs for end-users, there may be a few legacy deployments with D-series out there.
For changes to the versions of SKUs, as much as I'd like to, we won't as we will quote specific SKUs to customers, and as such we don't switch them up in the middle of a contract. That said when renewal or change-orders come around, we will try to switch to the latest SKUs available.
But that said, the highest we're going at the moment are v4 SKUs, as we like to do Reserved Instances for everything available to us!
