NFA to NMM: Shadow Copy Replacement?

Hello everyone,

I am transitioning a client environment from NFA to NMM. My customer is very aggressive with RPOs which up until this point I've been able to accommodate through native Shadow Copy on FS01. Any recommendations/guidance on what you're doing to overcome this in NMM on Azure Files now that FS01 no longer exists?

Thanks!

Christopher Jones - Thank you for the great question and  Jim-Barry Behar makes some great points here.

Making that leap to AZ Files can add some great performance boosting if leveraged with Azure Files AutoScale in Nerdio - https://help.nerdio.net/hc/en-us/articles/4409281168653-Auto-scale-functionality-for-Azure-files-in-NMM

Pairing that with the Azure Files Multiple daily backups(preview) - https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/updates/public-preview-multiple-backups-per-day-for-azure-files/  and you can spec out a similar format to the previous shadow copies methodology.

Please keep us informed in how you approach this!

You can continue to have an FS01 which in the end is a member server acting as a file server and nothing more. It just won't be where the FSLogix profiles live as those will go to Azure Files (which is a better place for them anyway!).

Where users store information is really up to you, your GPO's, and the design requirements for each client.
