Feature Request | Azure Runbook Schedules - Run on demand

Hey everyone,

It would be really helpful to have the ability to run scheduled Azure Runbooks on demand using their already-configured parameters.

Currently, when using the “Run Now” option, we need to manually re-enter the parameters each time—even if the runbook is already associated with a schedule that includes predefined values.

It would be great to have a simple “Run Now” button that reuses the parameters from an existing schedule, similar to how the scheduled “Reimage” option works for host pools. This would streamline operations and reduce repetitive input for routine tasks.

Thanks for considering this improvement!

Welcome to the community, Sebastian Rothgerber and thanks for the idea! 🙂

For your idea, I know when you choose to “Schedule” or “Run Now” an Azure Runbook from the Scripted Action blade, you get the option to specify parameters, but scheduling a recurring script against a specific object (i.e. VM, Host Pool, Host, etc.) you don't have these options.

Is that the function you're wanting to be able to edit the schedule/run now?

Hi Dave,

sorry for my late response, I missed the Update-Notification on this topic. :)

I have the following setup:

Multiple Azure Runbooks, which all have a schedule set:

If you edit the schedule, it shows the configured parameters:

At this point it would be great to have a button “run now” which executes this schedule with the configured parameters now.

Currently, everytime we need to manually trigger the runbook, we need to do it via Edit → Run Now:

But at this point you manually need to re-enter all the parameters again:

It would be great to have an option for “run now” like it is currently configured when you have a schedule on the host pools:

Thanks, Sebastian. And no worries about not responding right away. We all get busy. 🙂
That additional information provides a ton of clarity.
