We have the option to quote and spin up NAT Gateways, and we can quote Azure Firewall, but we cannot spin up an Azure Firewall from NMM. I would like to see the ability to spin up an Azure Firewall in accordance with the Azure Well Architected Framework (WAF), and to manage firewall rules from NMM.
Feature Request - Spinning Up Azure Firewall for a Client
Welcome to the community, Victor DeJesus 🙂!
I know we've had a few requests to more closely align with the Azure Well-Architected Framework and Cloud Adoption Framework.
I have setup Azure Firewall before, and it can be quite involved/difficult to troubleshoot.
Most of our partners are new to Azure so it might be outside of their skill-set and/or the customer's price range.
That being said, there's definitely a use-case for Azure FireWall, especially with the default outbound internet change that's coming in a few months.
We'll have to see how difficult it would be to have a wizard driven experience to set this up.
Out of curiosity, how often would you say you're utilizing Azure FireWall vs direct assigned Public IPs vs NAT Gateways for your AVD deployments now?
Â
As some of our clients come up for contract renewals, we are adding NAT gateways/Azure Firewalls based on the size, the use case, and the budget of the client. We no longer offer direct assigned public IPs on AVD Pools, VMs, or other azure resources, as everything needs to be behind a NAT Gateway or Firewall.
Thanks, Victor!
That kind of context helps.
We'll have to see what our product team can come-up with.
