Workflow approval for restoring backups (Planned)

Because restoring backups completely overwrites the current state of the server (can't restore to a new server, or just restore the disks, or restore files etc.) it would be nice if we could add this action into our approval workflows. Right now this is not an option.

100% on this, It is too easy to accidentally click and immediately start restoring a server, overwriting the server in it's current state. Just like how you have to type in “CONFIRMING DELETION OF THE HOST POOL” or something similar, there should be the same on restoring a server. Please and Thank you.

Very good input/request! Agree totally on this.

That seems like a “no brainer” idea. Thanks for suggesting it, Kevin! 🙂

We have the ability to do an approval for Restoring File Shares and Users, but not for Servers/VMs.

Do you see a use-case where you'd want a notification as well or just the approval will be enough?

Thank you, Dave! The notification could be useful as well, but I think the workflow approval would at least help prevent our techs from doing data restores without realizing the consequences. For now, we copied all of the built-in roles and removed restore permissions.

You're very welcome, Kevin!

Adding an explicit Deny for the Restore permission is a great work around, in the meantime.
Thanks for sharing it!
