Threshold Monitor/Alerts - Azure Files

A great feature to have if possible would be some sort of proactive monitoring/alerting for azure files. i.e. if our azure files for user profiles hits a certain size threshold it could send an email alert.

Welcome to the community, Chris Considine ๐Ÿ™‚!

Are you thinking this would be part of theย Notifications section where you could set different alert thresholds depending on the customer or do you want it to be more customer-facing where the end-user would get a notification when they're getting to their limit (similar to the Exchange Mailbox size notifications)?
Or, is this a two-fold approach where you're notified if/when the profile is almost full and when the File Share (storage account) is almost to the threshold you set in autoscale?

This would be more of an admin side thing to pre-emptively have us notified so we can possibly address storage bloat.
The specific case that brought this to mind is we have an environment where the fslogix profile azure files repository is bloating pretty significantly. We're working on mitigating the cause, but while we work on that, having some sort of notification on a storage threshold would help prevent the cost from ballooning.ย

For example, we have the repository auto-scaling up as needed up to 1TB, but as it currently stands it seems you can only get notifications when the scale-out event happens which can happen VERY regularly. What I would look for in this feature is a way to set an alert for say, 700GB or 70% of the ceiling, where it will send a 'critical' alert email to notify an admin that maybe they need to review this asap because maybe something is more wrong than normal increases.

Ahh. Thanks for clarifying, Chris.
Surprisingly, I had another partner bring-up this same question/request on a call recently so clearly this is going to be a more common request.
The current notifications are a bit noisy (like you mentioned) so that's not really a great way to keep on top of it.

SideNote: There is another request for the other part of this (the user filling-up their profile disk (UPD Size Alerting โ€“ Nerdio Help Center)), but this is different for what you're wanting. Hopefully, we can implement both ideas because they kind of go hand in hand. ๐Ÿ™‚

This would be an extremely useful feature! was surprised it was not already available. Look forward to seeing it implemented soon :)
