I would like to see more than one schedule as an option under Scripted Actions > Azure runbooks. The scenario is if we have a script that we need to run regularly but it doesn't fit within the existing daily, weekly on a day of the week, or monthly on a specific week of the month and a specific day of that week, we can set up multiple schedules to accomplish what is needed. As it is, if you go to Scripted Actions > Azure runbooks > Select your script > click the drop down > click schedule, it only gives an option for one item. I think what I'm looking for is the functionality mentioned below to come to Scripted Actions generally and not when tied to a specific host pool:
Multiple Schedules for Scripted Action Azure Runbooks
I think I see two ideas here.
One part of the idea sounds similar to this one where a different partner is asking to be able to schedule something on a specific date.
Date of the month schedule – Nerdio Help Center
The second part is the ability to schedule multiple scripts at the same time.
Maybe if we get the ability to schedule Azure Runbook Groups, that will do what you're wanting?
If not, please correct my misunderstanding. 🙂
Dave in reply, #1 is an idea of its own as your note in linking to another partner. #2 is also different as I am speaking about a single scripted action -- to get the ability to schedule Azure Runbook Groups would introduce a layer of complexity if I have a single script that is all I need to run. Addressing the scheduling of an Azure Runbook Group would also be very helpful in the near future .
It seems reasonable that a given scripted action for Azure Runbooks might need to run multiple times in the future with differing schdedules, and so in light of that having a single schedule is very limiting. Azure runbooks are the key to extending the platform to do things in Azure outside of the DaaS space. This is my best attempt to explain why multiple schedules for both Scripted Action Azure Runbooks and Scripted Action Azure Runbook Groups are a foundational feature I would expect to be available.
Thanks, Jacob. I appreciate you clarifying. 🙂
Very good point. Many times, you need the flexibility to run a script multiple times on a different schedule or multiple scripts on different schedules.
I can see this being beneficial to a lot of partners.
