Desktop Image Use Azure Capacity Extender

With all the recent capacity issues especially in South Central US, it would be extremely helpful to be able to setup capacity extender to try out different skus when turning on a desktop image vm. Also, when we have an automated schedule on a desktop image vm to run a script, we need to have the capability to use azure capacity extender here as well.

Great idea!
I know we have that Azure Capacity Extender on the temporary VM settings for Azure Files creation.
It makes a lot of sense to put it on the Desktop Image Power On, Set as Image, and Power Off and Set as Image options as well.

Out of curiosity, do you want to explicitly set the alternate SKUs for every image (similar to the HostPool settings) or would you be okay with the Intelligent Azure Capacity Extender option (similar to the Azure Files setting) ?

I have had an issue in the past getting the intelligent Azure Capacity Extender to function properly. This is likely an issue on my end not understanding how this features functions but it would be nice to have the option to manually select which skus to try.

In addition, we also need to be able to have a notification email option added to Desktop Image Power On, Set as Image, and Power Off and Set as Image.

I agree. Being (ideally) able to select the alternate SKUs would be ideal, but depending on the number of images you have, it could be tedious to update/modify the alternate SKUs. However, this should be fairly "set it and forget it" kind of thing so it shouldn't be a huge deal.

As far as the email notification, we do have our Notifications feature that allows you to get notified of any errors related to imaging.
Will that do what you're wanting?

Sorry Dave, forgot to update this post. Yes, that will work great. Forgot about that section, thanks!

Would be nice to use D-Series or B-Series in capacity extender if VMs currently set to E series.

Interesting, Felix Barba.
When I would create my images, I would create it with the smallest/cheapest VM as possible because it typically only runs for a few minutes/hours a week/month.
Have you seen a benefit of utilizing an E-Series SKU with your desktop images?
Or, do you have software requirements that need to see/utilize that extra RAM?

I got this Post mixed up with the hostpool capacity extender. Disregard.
