Nerdio Calculator being compliant with the AVD MS Specializations

Hi All,

It would be great if the Nerdio Calculator could produce an output that would assist the MSP to pass on the AVD MS Specialization audit.

Audit Checklist: https://assetsprod.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-virtual-desktop-checklist.pdf

The items from the Module B 1.1, 2.1 and 2.2 are quick wins to be included.

I'm happy to share our internal excel sheet used on our pre sales.

Welcome to the forums, Jonny Moura 🙂!

After going through some Azure Cloud Partner Specializations myself, I definitely understand how this could be useful.

I know not every partner is ready to take on the specializations, but if Nerdio was able to add it as an option, it could probably drive more partners to try for it because it would be "easier".
I'm thinking that every partner wouldn't need this on every estimate they do, but adding an additional option to export (i.e. For Audit) would do what you're wanting?

When I reviewed the requirements, it looks like each section has a number of bullet points, do you have any recommendations of how each would be presented to make it most useful to your team?

Hi Dave,

Exactly. I understand not every MSP will go for the Specialization. I think bringing that capability to the Nerdio calculator would definitely incentive MSPs to go for it.

The Audit file is a bit hard to read. I emailed you the Excel sheet I created with all relevant points for the audit. They are really good points when scoping AVD in general as well! I also understand how important is to keep the calculator simple. Maybe an "advanced" option to expand the fields?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Thanks Jonny!
The excel file really helped. I passed it along to our product team for them to review as well.

When I reviewed the excel file, I'm wondering if it might need something more than the current Cost Estimator can handle? 🤔
Like you mentioned, the Cost Estimator is designed for simplicity and ease of quoting.
However, your excel file is more in-depth and (in many ways) could produce a more accurate quote.
It's likely a new "Advanced Cost Estimator" would need to be created that would let you feed-in your answers and generate the resulting audit information.

In the meantime, where I could see this becoming really powerful would to be utilize something like a PowerApp your sales team and/or architects could use to get answers to questions and then use the Nerdio API to create the Cost Estimate (based on the answers gathered). From there, your architects could go in and tweak the Cost Estimate for the best cost-to-performance ratio. Once that's complete, the API could pull the cost estimate back into the PowerApp and generate the AVD Audit information and Customer Presentation in whatever format you're wanting.

I'm guessing what you're doing currently is working fine, but the alternative I suggested is a possible way to make it more easy/repeatable?

Either way, it's something to think about. 🙂
Hopefully we can get some more partners chiming-in on what they're currently doing and how they would handle it.
