Use of Custom Tags for Azure VMs and use these Tags for actions

Hi,

a feature which i still missing is the use of custom tags for Create VMs with Nerdio. This is still something we actually need to implement with Azure Policys or other tools. But custom tags need to be set up in nearly every customer environemt.

Further on i would love to have a integration to use these tags for scripted actions or re-deployment. I see already feature request for "rolling-updates" or other requests. I think maybe it could be more easy to use custom tags on special VMs and then use these tags for actions.

In our case we have a customer with 24x7 business hours, so we can only reboot and redeploy in waves. This was en feature that citrix use already to use different reboot waves.

Looking to be able to add custom Tags in Nerdio. Specifically in our use case, we always want a hot spare WVD. But sometimes there are some notes we want on that VM. would be nice to be able to add description.

Nils Fitschen, sorry, I don't know how I missed this great idea!
There's a similar idea (Manage tags on Desktop Images – Nerdio Help Center) where a partner is wanting to add Custom Tags to the desktop image.
We could possibly combine the two ideas together and allow custom tags throughout other places in NMM.
Out of curiosity, have you looked into adding the tags through an Azure Runbook Scripted Action?

Felix Barba, I could see how having certain tags display in NMM would be helpful (It's how we're doing description fields for Desktop Images and Servers).
However, for Host descriptions, I'm struggling to see the value. (It's likely just me not understanding something 🙂)
Generally, with hosts in a host pools, any of those hosts could be powered on/used at any time so you want them all to be identical.
Can you expand a little more on your use-case for per-host descriptions?

I want to work exclusively out of Nerdio and not have to go into the Azure portal regularly.
If there is a particular VM that had an issue and not ready to completely nuke it. I might want to Tag the VM with a note for a temporary circumstance, currently I have not way to do that in Nerdio.
I can do that in Azure Portal.
While not critical feature, it is helpful especially when we are testing and staging things.

Ahh. I think I understand now, Felix Barba.
If you're temporarily disabling Autoscale or manually putting a host in drain mode, it would be nice to add a comment/note/tag on the host as to why so the next tech/engineer that comes in has some idea of why it's non-standard.

I like it!
