It would be great to have this feature in Manager for MSP to be able to scale down to zero hosts outside of business hours but still be able to maintain X available sessions to scale during business hours.
Maintain up to X available sessions - Always or During Work Hours
Hi Tristan Slusarczyk, welcome to the community! Have you taken a look at the auto-scaling capabilities? You can set how many total hosts, how many remain running all the time, and even when to start the scale in process. Additionally, we currently have a rolling drain-mode capability that is in private preview which should be out soon!
Thanks Marcos, I have. But what I'd like to do is be able to have zero hosts running outside of business hours, but during business hours always maintain X amount of sessions, rather than using host metrics to scale. Correct me if I'm wrong but believe when you specify X sessions to be available it overrules the zero hosts logic
Hey, Tristan, I think Marcos Artiaga is on the right track.
You can set your Host Pool Sizing to "0 min active hosts" and then use the Pre-Stage Hosts feature to turn on the hosts when you need them.
Then, when the hosts aren't being used, they will scale in based on your Scaling Logic settings.
Will that do what you want?
Just as a side-note, if you do set the min host count to 0, and someone logs-in outside of your established hours, they will need to wait (anywhere from 5-15 minutes depending on Azure/your configuration) before they can log in. And, if you're changing the disk size when the hosts are scaled-in, the VM will "Start on Connect" with an HDD drive vs. an SSD or Prem. SSD. Nerdio won't be able to change the disk type because it's not starting the VM (the user is).
