Hi all, i'm just wondering if it's possible to map a shared drive as a remote app in Nerdio AVD. So icon that will open file explorer straight into a S: drive for example.
Shared Drive as a remoteapp
As far as I know (I'm sure the community will correct me if I'm wrong 😉), there's not a way to map a remote app to a specific network folder.
You can map File Explorer as a remote app, but the users will need to manually navigate to the network drive they're wanting/needing.
It would be cool to have that option and I hope I am wrong and that it is possible.
Hi Mark Burrows and welcome to the community! DStephenson is right. You can publish File Explorer as a published application, but you can't really publish a specific drive letter. Users will still need to navigate to that directory. That being said, you may want to look at the possibility of hiding C: and other fixed disks via GPO/Intune, etc. That may help to limit the places they can navigate to.
Had to fully disconnect to get it to work but you can specify a path in azure
It seemed a bit derpy as i was getting an error when adding the path. I left my session connected and it said the app was not allowed. but fully signing out and back in then let it work.
I did test this with file paths and mapped drives (given the user has access). Just put the path in the "Required command line"
Very cool, Tomas!
This is why I love our Nerdio Community. There's always someone else who may know something that can help.
I've never been happier to be wrong. 😁
Mark Burrows, does Tomas' solution work for your usecase?
Hi both, i'm going to give it a test later tonight :)
