Updating Office 365 on golden image
Codye,
I'm not sure about the registry key, but Nerdio has a scripted action called Install Microsoft 365 Office Apps. If you run it on a VM that already has Office 365 installed, it will update it.
Awesome, can you please point me in the direction on how to run this?
I apologize, is this just uninstalling and reinstalling office on the golden image?
Everything you need to know is here - https://help.nerdio.net/hc/en-us/articles/11548090424333-Overview-of-Scripted-Actions
-Assign the scripted action to your client account (Accounts -> Scripted Actions -> Windows Scripts)
-Go to client account -> Desktop Images -> Dropdown -> Run script -> Choose script under Windows scripts
You do not need to uninstall Office. The same script will install Office if it's not installed and willl update it if it's already installed.
Codye Walker it's the same (basic) process whether you run a scripted action on an image, a host, or a host pool.
-
Click on the Account where you want to add run a scripted action
-
Choose Desktop Images
-
Click the drop-down menu arrow next to the desired image
NOTE: Most customer will only have 1 Desktop Image, but some may have more. -
Select Run script
NOTE: You can run a script on a VM that is powered on or powered off.
If it is offline, Nerdio will turn on the host, run the script, and then turn it off again.
Script Properties (Desktop Image)
-
Choose the Windows or Azure Runbook script(s) you want to run and drag them in the correct order
-
**OPTIONAL**
Check the Pass AD credentials box if your script needs Active Directory credentials to execute -
**OPTIONAL**
Check the Restart VM after script execution box to force the VM to reboot after the scripts are finished
NOTE: Some scripts reboot as part of their execution process. -
Click OK
I think you also need to set to 0 the 2 "hide..." keys in here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\policies\microsoft\office\16.0\common\OfficeUpdate
