Check Subscription For Available Sizes

The Cost Estimator uses the pricing API and displays all available sizes.  We have customer subscriptions where only a subset of sizes is available.  Would be cool if the Cost Estimator could query a subscription and only return usable sizes.  Has caused some surprises in resulting charges.

Interesting idea.
From a process perspective, are you thinking:

  1. Check Subscription for Usable Sizes
  2. Check Region for Available Sizes
  3. Display results in Nerdio Pricing Calculator

or

  1. Check Region for Available Sizes
  2. Check Subscription for Usable Sizes
  3. Display results in Nerdio Pricing Calculator

We don't currently have this requirement for our customers, yet, but I'm curious how the Nerdio team will be able to pull something like this off. 🙂

It's def a chicken and egg b/c you'd need access to the subscription to pull the data and cost estimates are often done before an account is setup.  Either flow is fine as long as when it's all done it is only spitting out a configuration that can actually be implemented.

Thanks Ryan Dorman & DStephenson

Getting the region from the Azure subscription can be done, but the region selection can be done easily from the Cost Estimator so I'm not sure which challenge this would solve. We do consider the VM sizes available in the selected region. Can you share other causes that limit the availability for VM sizes? Are you referring to quotas?

Quotas?  It couldn't be quotas.  I'm sure it's not quotas.

It was quotas.
