Hi Travnicek Reinhard. Let me respond to your suggestions here as the 2022 topic (where you posted) was closed.

> I am just wondering that all the cool features of Nerdio (power-management, usage of ephemeral discs) are not configurable in the cost estimator.
Because there are so many variables in an average customer environment, we need to decide on what to include in the Cost Estimator. If we include too many parameters, we risk it to become bloated. Therefor, we mainly focus on components that have significant impact on cost. We're always open for suggestions. I've added your suggestions to our product backlog.

> What I am really missing is a “average time of use” when using “Personal Desktops”.
If we would introduce a field to define the typical working hours, like we're doing with pooled desktop, would that work for your use case?

Hi Moses Hull. Let me respond to your suggestions here as the 2022 topic (where you posted) was closed.

> It would be nice to have a hyper-link on the Software updates page that points at the NMM PRODUCT REVISIONS web page so we can more quickly review it before installing it. I just now realized that the ... at the end does it but it is not obvious.
I'm glad you found it. But you bring up a fair point, so we'll consider a better way to link to the release notes.

>In Custom RDP Properties when you click the information button it shows you what the setting you can use but it does not indicate what the default is, if "Not Configured". That would be really helpful when you are making adjustments on that page.
Thanks, that’s a good suggestion. I've added it to our backlog.

Hi Gido,

If you enhance the cost estimator you should consider putting the RI flag next to each VM resource.

What do I mean? Estimating costs for VDI workers might include a host pool which only runs for a certain amount of time per month, and another host pool running 24x7. So the 24x7 pool would be cheapest when used as RI , and the other pool in a pay as you go fashon.

Regards

Reinhard

Not sure if I fully understand. Right now we provide you with the flag on individual server VMs. You suggest this to be available on host pools level as well, is that correct?

1. Hey guys I know I am definitly not the only person here who wants this, but could a script to fix stale fslogix account lockouts be implemented, my admin account gets its fslogix profile locked several times a week after I have to bastion into a vm, it would be amazing to have an easy nerdio solution for this :)

2. A way to set the fslogix profile containers to a larger size maybe using something like the auto-scale logic for the fslogix shares but for the actual individuals profiles. I get devs that sometimes need much larger sizes than 30gb and setting this manually is a bit tedious one at a time.

Just some thoughts, thanks so much to the team, Nerdio rocks

Hi Earl, valuable feedback, thanks! We already have a script to detect stale FSlogix profiles. But fixing and/or removing profiles automatically needs some investigation. I've added your second suggestion as a feature request.

What about Azure Compute Gallery and its associated storage account? Are those costs significant enough to include in the Cost Estimator? I would like to at least see a cost estimate when adding it during Desktop Image creation.

Issue with Bursting

We are seeing that when a pool is bursting and creating a new VM, then gets deleted when it is not longer in use, the pool cannot successfully burst again the following day.
This is due to the fact that when the original bursted VM was deleted and un-joined from the domain, the computer object will get disabled. The following day NMM will create a new burstable VM with the same name but it will get stuck joining to the domain since the object already exists and is disabled.

Can the bursting code change where it will not use the same computer name as a previously bursted VM?

Jason Bridgeman, we haven't used the bursting features, but have seen problems with names being in use.
In your AutoScale settings for that host pool, do you have Re-use host names checked?
I'm guessing you probably do (since it's a default setting) and that's why you're getting the error.
