Overview of Nerdio Manager Billing

Overview of Nerdio Manager Billing

This is an overview of Nerdio Manager billing process. The process has the following steps:

Calculate the Charges for AVD and Cloud PC Users

Nerdio billing for AVD and Cloud PC users is consumption-based, which ensures that you pay only for what you use. Nerdio Manager charges are calculated monthly on the first of the month for the previous month. Charges are based on the average number of desktop users in the previous month.

Your Nerdio Manager install reports the number of AVD and Cloud PC desktop users across your Nerdio Manager accounts to our licensing servers on a regular basis. At 12:01 AM UTC on the first day of every month, we will average out the number of users in your Nerdio Manager install, apply any discounts such as an Internal Use License (IUL) or Partnered tier discounts, and calculate the charges for the previous month.

Notes:

  • We prorate AVD and Cloud PC charges. For example, if you assign an AVD desktop to a user on the 20th, not the 1st, we charge for that user for 10 days, not the entire month.

  • An AVD desktop user is a user that has been assigned an AVD desktop or RemoteApp. Nerdio will bill for the user regardless of whether the user logs in to their AVD desktop or RemoteApp, or not.

  • If user is assigned multiple desktops or RemoteApps, Nerdio will count the user once.

  • Please make sure that your installation of Nerdio Manager can communicate with our licensing system at the IP address 52.146.28.219.

Calculate the Charges for Intune Users

Nerdio billing for Intune users is consumption-based, which ensures that you pay only for what you use. Nerdio Manager charges are calculated monthly on the first of the month for the previous month. Charges are based on the number of Intune users in the previous month.

Your Nerdio Manager install reports the number of Intune users across your Nerdio Manager accounts to our licensing servers on a regular basis. At 12:01 AM UTC on the first day of every month, we will calculate the number of Intune users in your Nerdio Manager install, apply any discounts such as an Internal Use License (IUL) or Partnered tier discounts, and calculate the charges for the previous month.

Notes:

  • An Intune user is a user that has the Intune license option enabled as part of a license that entitles them to use Intune. This could be users assigned the Microsoft 365 Business Premium license, or other licenses listed here and here.

  • An Intune user that also has an AVD or Cloud PC desktop will not be billed for their Intune usage only their AVD or Cloud PC usage. That is, Nerdio will count the user once.

  • We average Intune user charges. See Intune Billing Scenarios below for examples.

Intune Billing Scenarios

Any time Intune is On in an account, we charge for the entire month based on average number of users for the month, except if Intune is Off at end of the month and Intune was On for 7 days or less, then we don't charge for Intune-only users.

Some example scenarios follow for further clarification:

  • Intune is on the 1st day of the month and Intune remains on through the last day of the month. We will charge for the average of number of users for month.

  • Intune is on the 1st day of the month and Intune is turned off on day 6. No charge for Intune.

  • Intune is on the 1st day of the month and Intune remains on until day 15. Average for 15 days is 100 users, we will charge $300 (not the prorated $150).

  • Intune is on the 15th day of the month and Intune is on last day of the month. Average for 2 days is 100 users, we will charge $300 (not $20).

  • Intune is on the 29th day of the month and Intune is on the last day of the month. Average for 2 days is 100 users, we will charge $300 (not $20).

  • Intune is on the 29th day of the month and Intune is OFF the last day of the month. We will charge $0.

Invoice the Charges

Once the charges are calculated:

  • If you signed up for Nerdio Manager via a distributor, we consider you a “distributor partner” and will invoice your distributor for the charges. You will not see an invoice from us. You will be able to view the number of desktop and Intune users we tracked on a daily basis and are used to calculate the charges.

  • If you signed up for Nerdio Manager directly with us, we consider you a “direct partner.” We will report usage to the Azure Marketplace. Azure will invoice you on your Azure bill. You will pay Microsoft and Microsoft will pay Nerdio. You will see an invoice in the Nerdio Manager portal, however you will not pay the invoice. The invoice is for your accounting purposes and to understand how the charges were calculated. You will be able to view the number of desktop users and Intune users we tracked on a daily basis and used to calculate the charges. Nerdio Manager invoices indicate that Nerdio will charge your Azure Subscription for usage as shown below:
